My Rollei

I was inspired by Paco's photo from a few days ago, so thought I would show one of my old cameras. This is a Rolleiflex 4x4 cm Twin Lens Reflex camera with a f3.5 Schneider Xenar lens. These are also know as the Post-war Gray Baby model. This model was manufactured from 1957 - 1961.
My Dad boutght this one new (I think) and used it for many years. When I was a kid I took photography in 4-H and he let me use this camera. It really takes good pictures, but I haven't used it for a few years. Guess I need to get some film and try it again.

Bought it new... yes I did! And as I recall it cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $59. Light tent is working well Paul. Great shot!

Paul, I'm glad to inspire you to show us this great camera. I have never had one and I was very envious of my cousin's. He never let anybody to use it (we were 14-16 years). Now I'm looking for one to add to my starting collection.
And also: you have taken it wonderfully: without reflections, sharp and in a great angle.

awesome image. I have a question. How what do you use to measure the light when using this camera?

@Rags: Well, you can use an external light meter, but I always used the Normal Daylight Exposure (NDE) rule that says the exposure for normal daylight is 1/ISO at f/16. Then there are +/- rules you use from that... like cloudy is NDE +2, on Sand is NDE -1.

Great camera...I had my Grandpa's old Rollie when I was a kid and it was from 1939 I believe. It was such a great camera. I think one of my brothers has it now. Last time I saw it, it still worked but that was back in the early 1980's.
